I have always heard that women are more nurturing than men, while I don’t know if this is true, I do know my animals enjoy the best life they can until they reach maturity and fulfill their final purpose. I believe animals raised in the most humane and sustainable manner not only enjoy their time on earth but mature in a natural manner as they were intended to. Providing you with the most healthy, delicious, and nutritious meat I can, while enjoying the animals during the time they are in my care is why I do it. One of the neat things about my operation is I don’t just grow meat; I also grow all the food the animals eat. As a small farmer, sometimes it would be a lot easier to just go and buy grain and hay, especially when the season has been poor or the equipment breaks down, but just as I would not ask you to feed your family something from unknow origins and chemical processes, I won’t do that to mine either. I have spent the last ten plus years diligently breeding animals for quality and flavor second to none, not with the intention of getting a big pig fast, but with the hope that your family will truly enjoy what I have to offer. It might not matter to you that buying my meat is supporting a woman owned, local, small business, and that is ok. However, it might matter to you that your family can make the drive to Ossian, enjoy the beautiful view, wander around our garden, picking your own produce is always better, and seeing exactly where your food comes from. No, I don’t mind at all, in fact it’s part of the farmer gene in my blood and getting to see your family enjoy all the hard work that comes with farming is one of the reasons I do it.
