The Cost of Production Estimator (COPE) assists farms & ranches with an estimation of the COP for one slaughter-ready animal based on data from the National Census of Agriculture. An accurate estimation of the cost of production of livestock can be challenging for small and mid-sized operations. This tool was created to help you use your own data as well as USDA Census of Agriculture data to create an estimate.
The data provided comes from operations that answered the census and reported that they only market through local food (direct and intermediated) marketing channels. The categories are based on the Census of Ag so please read the definitions carefully.
